HOW DO YOU PEOPLE SLEEP AT NIGHT??!?
Sorry, but I have an eternal disdain for meter maids. These people are ruthless.

Granted I only kind-of have a car in SF, but I cannot wrap my head around meter maid-hate. Why do we hate someone for simply doing their job? Is it displaced anger? Srsly, WTF?
I think it has to do with the general attitude of the parking squadron. Just doing your job is one thing, but a lot of these people working for the parking department obviously get some kind of sadistic pleasure in issuing tickets and having people beg them not to. The one time I rented a U-Haul and got a ticket while driving off after being double parked for about 1.5 minutes at 11AM on Bush St. comes to mind. It isn’t all of the people in the department, just a select few that are hellish, kinda like they couldn’t get a job in QA.
I do appreciate someone having a job to do. Especially one that always results in people being upset about you doing your job.
That being said, it bothers the hell out of me that across the street from the parking department’s office (you know, where all all those three wheel carts are dispatched from) is a business that has 5-10 vehicles double and triple parked ALL DAY LONG.
Laws are laws. Don’t break the laws. I pretty much deserved every ticket I ever got. The only one was parking on Larkin where it was flat, but the top of the block was hilly. Apparently, it doesn’t matter if the place where you park is flat or not. San Francisco draws imaginary lines from the start to end of the block. If it’s greater than a certain point, you have to curb your wheels on the ENTIRE BLOCK. Which doesn’t pass the “sane man” test of any law. They should at least put up signs or something.
Other than that, I deserved every other ticket I got.
Meter maids and, uh, dudes are awesome. We’d be three deep in idiots “just running into the store, honest” parked for hours in our two lane streets down here without them.
Ticket on, meter maids, ticket on!
