There’s a wonderful big marquee above a gas station tire shop at the corner of Larkin and Turk that always displays a proverb, a philosophical quote or a note of popular wisdom. I call it the literary marquee. Here are a few examples:
The first one is from a few months ago and is probably my favorite so far:

The second one is from April and is less reflexive than usual and more humorous:

The last one is from yesterday:

Since I only pass by this crossing from time to time, I don’t know how often the quotes change. Maybe someone can tell us more about it? And if some readers recall other gas tire station marquee literature, please let us know in the comments!

I love that sign – it’s like an oracle. So often as I pass it, the current text relates to something going on in my life. so great. I hope someone has some clue as to who does this, but I also sorta love the mystery of it.
That’s not a gas station it’s Kahn and Keville’s. A tire shop. :-]
Oops, I guess that shows how much attention we pay to gas stations/tire shops since we don’t have a car… Thanks for the correction, it’s now fixed!
